And this time, we're inviting the entire Pacific to come home to Hualien. The Pacific Austronesian Joint Harvest Festival is one of the world's foremost gatherings of Indigenous Austronesian music, dance, food, and craft. Across four days of ceremony, the drums, the songs, and the dancing never stop — because what we celebrate isn't only this season's harvest, but a cultural memory that runs thousands of years deep, written into our very blood.

Long before the Age of Sail, the ancestors of the Austronesian world set out in canoes across the open Pacific, guided only by the stars, the currents, and the seabirds overhead. From Taiwan they voyaged on — reaching Hawai'i, Aotearoa New Zealand, Tahiti, and finally the most remote island of all, Rapa Nui (Easter Island). It remains one of the greatest ocean migrations in human history.

Today, the descendants once scattered across those distant islands are following the same currents home, back to where the journey first began. Hualien — the homeland of the Austronesian world, and the starting point of this reunion. This is more than a festival. It's a reunion across the ocean, a journey of the soul returning home.
